About Me
I’m Caroline. I’ve been passionate about colour, clothes, and interiors for as long as I can remember.
I’m the daughter of an artist and interior designer. Growing up, I saw how colour and design lifted my mother out of depression. I’ve studied social sciences and the arts, and worked in fashion retail and journalism, charities and publishing. The golden thread that runs throughout is supporting people to feel happier and more fulfilled.
Colour is a miracle that surrounds us every waking minute, yet how often do we really think of the power it has to lift, delight, heal and sustain us? We talk about taking time to smell the roses, but first let’s marvel at their amazing colours.
My family is biracial, bridging Ethiopia and Oxford, our home for thirty years. I love to cook almost as much as I love poking around vintage shops. Colour analysis feels like coming home.
My Approach
I use a state-of-the-art modern approach to colour that uses a typology of 16 ‘sub-seasons’. This method, taught by modern colour analysis school Lulu Boutique, builds on earlier approaches popularised in the 1980s, but has the advantage of being far more nuanced.
Contemporary colour theory is rooted in ancient and modern human history from Aristotle to Isaac Newton to Goethe, and on to Bauhaus artist Johannes Itten who worked on colour harmony.
For personal colour analysis, I use professional colour drapes of varying hues, values and chromas, holding different shades against you in natural light to see how each one interacts with your skin tone, hair and eyes. My approach works for clients of all ethnicities, analysing the relative warmth and cool of our skin undertone.
In the case of interior colour consultations we’ll draw on colour harmony and psychology to discuss the potential of different hues, shades and tones to support function and mood in your home.
By the end of our session, you'll walk away with a personalised palette or ideas for interior colour schemes, as appropriate, and practical guidance on how to use colour to achieve your aims.
